'Greek' Army - getting there!

I've painted 24 bases of pikes, 8 of thorakiti and 8 of late hoplites (all Magister Militum).  I also have 8 Pendraken hoplite bases which can (for now) double as hypaspists.  I've done 8 bases of peltasts as well and already have slingers (albeit Balearics but they can double as Rhodians).  I'm in the process on completing the basing (drybrushing and flocking) which will take a couple of hours at least. 

I've also got 8 bases of thuerophoroi to paint as well.

So for the Macedonians and Seleucids / Ptolemaics I can field most of the foot units required.  Its my birthday soon so I'll be asking for some hypaspists, some more horse archers (so they can represent Sogdian / Skythian / Parthian horse archers), some basic greek heavy cavalry and maybe some bolt throwers for variation!).

So now the attention turns to the cavalry. I've got 8 bases of kataphracts and Companian cavalry to paint, as well as 8 bases of Thessalian cavalry and some light Greek cavalry - so the numbers are OK!  I know the horses are going to take longer to paint but the first kataphracts look fine and dandy and so should be quite impressive when all are complete.

As an army, it looks quite formidable.  With the pikes in the centre and the hoplites / hypaspists on the flanks and surrounded by good, tough cavalry its relatively slow moving but packs a punch (much like the Mid Republican Roman army).  The sight of all those pikes should make the Persian's think again!
