This shows my first attempt at creating the hills / rolling countryside. I used my jigsaw (fairly clumsily!) but you can see the effect. The corner pieces can join together to make a central piece or work from the side of the table. I've painted a couple green but think I'll use flocked paper to cover them and paint the reverse a sandy brown (so double usage - grassy or desert hills).
The challenge now is to create a full set of modular pieces that fit together and create more realistic terrain and allow us to better re-create historical battles (ancient and Napoleonic) rather than just plonking a typical raised hill down.
This will also allow us to better recreate terrain for specific parts of the world - hilly Spain and Northern Italy for example...
