I was going to re-base my Grand Armee British (and probably the Prussians after we've done Waterloo) for Principles of War Napoleonics. But a test showed that the troops are virtually impossible to remove from the mdf bases (despite only using PVA glue) without damaging them. And also wrecking the base itself.
So I'm now planning to finish basing the British and then send them the way of the 10mm ancients and eBay them (as Mark has more British GA bases than we'll ever need). I made nearly £400 on the 10mm (and still have the Gauls and Parthians / Sarmatians to sell off) and the British / Prussians should add a chunk to that as well - especially as the GA bases are the same size as Polemos (so I understand).
I'll then re-invest in some more British (although I may go for Austrians or Russians rather than Prussians) - I'll need less than for GA so the cash left over will let me do the following :-
- buy a number of 6mm ancients armies for the DBA campaign (already ordered from Rapier)
- buy the iPad (going halves with Junior)
- buy a SYW army (probably Spanish on Ian's advice)
- keep a war chest for a new army when the opportunity arises.
I've got the Samurai to paint, as well as the AWI army and there is a lot of scenery to work on for the Normandy campaign so its not like I haven't got a lot to do (including finishing off the Gauls and Parthians to sell!). But I'm now committed to standardising in 6mm and the rules sets we use most and this will be a step towards that.
