Visiting Russ' house to drop off my Americans for Tarawa, he informed me that he was going to buy (and subsequently has bought) Field of Glory Rennaissance.
This has led obliquely to getting back into FOG Ancients and we've agreed to have another bash at FOGA over the coming months. This requires me to finally finish off painting the Gauls, then the Greeks (so we can get some true Sparta vs Athens etc. action going) as well as the Parthians (horsey archers for the win!) and finally the early Imperial Romans (pila away!).
Although I've enjoyed the multiple forays into different wargaming spheres, I have missed the old FOG bashes we used to have (especially as the score stands at Romans 13, Carthage 3) and I found the Macedonains vs Persian battles we had were very tense and tight affairs. Opening up to new armies (the Spanish also need another run out) should make it more interesting - especially with those winter nights drawing in.
Russ should have his 'man room' finished soon so we can alternate on non-club nights and there is always the scope for a Saturday mega-bash with all the lads (at Ian's of course - the catering facilities are always of an excellent standard).
So expect more FOG reports and updates in the near future - once a certain Pacific atoll has been quelled.
