Russ is still painting hoplites so we've delayed the Persians vs Macedonians clash for a week. Russ has done his army list and it looks pretty impressive - 11BG of tough troops including elite Persian cavalry, Apple Bearers and Saka cavalry. This means the Macedonians are outnumbered by foot AND cavalry.
However his points tally comes in at 677. This means I can bring 1-2 extra BG's to the field. So I need to think where they will be best used. Maybe an extra BG of Agema to take on the 4BG of cavalry OR some extra foot (hoplites or hypaspists) to redress the foot imbalance.
Food for thought - I'm thinking cavalry but more foot might give me more options (especially spearmen) to overwhelm the middle (5-6 bases of foot vs 4).
We'll see....
