The Way to Go?

There was more news yesterday about Jake in talks for the movie The Way Way Back. The story written by Nat Faxon and Jim Rash, follows a teenage boy, who over the course of an extraordinary summer, forms an unlikely friendship with the guy in charge of a local water park. That friendship gives him the strength to stand up to his bullying abusive stepdad and reconnect with his mom.

Jake's teenage days over, and being the bullying stepdad, doesn't seem like the image Jake wants at the moment. But with water park guy, Jake could have could have a chance to play it a little broader than usual and bring a quirky blend of comedy and understanding to the mentoring manager."Owen, a park worker with more charm in his pinky than ten Obamas put together. The instantly likable 20-something becomes a sort of half-friend half-parent to Duncan, and jacks him up with enough confidence to change his passive approach to the world. With Owen's encouragement, Duncan begins making friends, talking to girls, and yes, even breakdancing."

Wonder if Schlitterbahn is in the running for the part of the waterpark? Well even if it loses out to Wild Rivers, Jake could still get in some quality research time at the famous Texas waterpark.Faxon and Rash are getting great reviews for their screenplay for George Clooney's newest movie The Descandents.

For The Way Way Back, they will get the opportunity to direct their own script. There is no word on when production will begin but there is a entry over at IMDB listed as Untitled Rash/Faxon Project (2012).

The script, floating around since 2007, is said to be a dramedy, and with Faxon and Rash there has to be some comedy. The two are both part of improv and sketch comedy theater, The Groundlings.

Bostonian and Sox fan Faxon has been in big screen comedies including Beerfest, Walk Hard: The Dewey Cox story, Club Dread, Zookeeper, and Slackers. Some may know him from his role as Sully in the Funny or Die parody of Mad Men, called MA Men & MA Men 2.

Rash has been on a regular on shows including The Naked Truth, Thanks and Help Me Help You. He also has had guest roles on Will & Grace, Friends and was a reoccurring character on Reno 911 & That 70's show.

Rash might be best known for his most recent role as Dean Pelton on NBC's Community.

Whether Jake signs on or not, it looks like he is again looking to his indie roots.
