English Civil War - 6mm DBR

After a conversation with Ian last week about campaigns I've been giving some thought to the next one.  I think we need relatively fast play rules (as DBA has proved with the ancients campaign).  And we need a period we're all generally happy with.

So I'm thinking an English Civil War campaign using DBR for the rules.  The general concept will be a 2 vs. 2 campaign (2 fighting the North and 2 fighting in the South on each side).  Control of the countryside means food (but no cash) and control of the cities means cash (but no food).

All will be given a number of armies each which they bolster by taking territories but only keep of they can feed and pay their troops.

Players will (secretly) state which provinces and cities they are attacking.  In the event that they choose the same territory then battle is joined.  If they attack a city then a siege commences (its then up to the opposition to contest - if they can.

The campaign will be played from the Scottish borders to Cornwall.  As an added element we'll stick with the events card approach - as well as the ability to bring in Scottish or Irish armies into the mix.

Anyway - the planning (and army building) will begin once we've got March (Russ' Impetus month) out of the way.
