The Recession hits our house - again

Some bad news yesterday - Mrs B was made redundant from her job (after 17 years) as the company she works for has closed the regional office she works in 'to save money'.  The cost saving is estimated at £300,000 with about 33 people having their jobs 'at risk' (note that the two senior managers making this decision pull down about £150,000 each).

So more belt-tightening in our household and even more pressure for us both to now find full-time employment at the worst time and not particularly the best area of the country (Merseyside).

On the plus side she will be a lot less stressed (she had to take 2 weeks off before Christmas as the job was really getting on top of her) but financially we're going to be under the cosh.

So a big thanks to the bankers who've got us into this mess - hope you enjoy those bonuses, boys!
