Far from ....where?

I spent the day watching Todd Haynes direct!! What a great filmmaker. - AUS10

Austin's tweet is giving a clue where he is, but Haynes is as elusive as Austin.

But why would Austin get a chance to watch Haynes direct? It is not likely he just showed up and hung out.

Could he have a role in Haynes' newest project.

And what could the project be?

Todd Haynes is known for his work which such movies as Velvet Goldmine, Far From Heaven, and I'm Not There and as well as the award winning mini series on HBO, Mildred Pierce.

Openly gay he is not one to shy away looking at sexuality in the context of his stories, from 70's glam rockers, to homosexuality in 1950's America, to an approach to part of playing Bob Dylan in I'm Not There that not many directors would even dare think to do.

Inventive and fearless he seems to tackle what he loves head on.

No one is quite sure what he is working on, since he phenomenal work on Mildred Pierce with HBO, but there was piece in IndieWire that might be a hint.

“There’s a property Julianne Moore brought to HBO, this book called ‘Dope,’ set in New York in the 1950s, sort of the drug underworld of New York. It’s a very interesting piece that she was interested in developing into a series and asked me to do the pilot episode and sort of launch it, which I would love to do if that was something they were still behind. So that’s sort of in the periphery of my immediate future with the company.”

With Haynes in such a good position with HBO post Mildred Pierce, this could be a go. And with Austin's ties to HBO from JFC, could it mean something for him too?

Guess it's a wait and see.

Happy Austin Friday.
